What do you call your car? Tyson. That is because when I first saw it, I thought it was cool, sleek and sexy like Tyson Beckford. What do you look for in a car? Aesthetics. I have always been attracted to cars that look sexy, powerful, have some type of attitude and feel even sexier to drive. Do you feel like your car represents your personality? May be, or perhaps how I feel whenever I have been on the radio or in front of the camera. I have always easily transformed into someone else, so I guess its representative of my alter ego. Do you have accessories in your car that bring out some individuality and style? No, it arrived perfect and I would not change or alter a single thing, kind of like me. Are you a car enthusiast? I want something that can take me from point A to B, but in comfort and style. What do you love most about your car? It gives an outstanding ride, especially when speeding down a highway, such a rush of power and confidence. It’s smooth, fast but stable. My favourite part, though, is the black tints, low profile tyres and black rims. I feel a bit like a gangsta in it (laughs). If you could change one thing about your car, what would that be? That it would not get more attention from men than I do! I kid you not, I can’t tell you how many times I have had men approach me at petrol stations or shopping mall parking lots just to compliment my car. They stand round it drooling and asking me questions like I am its ugly girlfriend. It is quite amusing! Approximately how much do you spend on your car in a month? Not sure because of the varying cost of car wash and oil but on fuel about Sh10, 000 to Sh12,000 a month. Do you know how to change a tyre? No, I am a hopeless girl who thinks there are still some things I will always need a man to do for me. Are you a manual or automatic kind of girl? Manual. My first car was a Roadster convertible and it was manual. You just cannot compare that rush and power you feel switching gears whilst zipping around. I love it but when traffic jams became unbearable in Nairobi, I had to switch. Manual does not have the same effect when you’re crawling inch by inch in traffic. Are you a speed hog? No I am not. I think I am a very careful driver most of the time, but I like speeding when I am on a clear road. What is your most annoying pet peeve on the road? People cutting me off. It drives me insane! I have visuals of smashing their back window with a rock, especially if it is a matatu or bus. What one thing have you learnt about cars? Low profile tyres look so much better, but are terrible for Kenyan roads. I have actually cracked my rims four times. What is your favourite place to drive your car and why? Mombasa Road or Waiyaki Way when it’s clear — the speed and sense of freedom is mind-blowing. What advice would you someone shopping for a car? Research, research and research! Also from my numerous friends’ experiences, I would not import a car in future. Nearly everyone I know was either conned, got something different from what they expected or had to pay through their nose to fix problems in the car after it arrived.
