It wasn’t all that long ago that it seemed like quite a feat to squeeze a terabyte of storage into a laptop-sized 2.5 inch drive. Now Samsung has gone a bit further by introducing the first 1TB mSATA solid state drive. The Samsung 840 EVO mSATA SSD measures about 3.85mm (0.15 inches) thick and weighs just 8.5 grams (0.3 ounces). It can fit into places you wouldn’t be able to put a normal laptop drive, such as tablets or super-thin ultrabooks. The small size also lets you use the drive as a secondary storage device if your laptop has a 2.5 inch drive bay and an open mSATA slot. While the SSD is pretty small, it’s also pretty speedy though, with support for sequential read/write speeds of 540 MB/s and 520MB/s, respectively. Samsung offers 120GB, 250GB, and 500GB models as well as the 1TB version. All sizes are expected to launch globally Tags: TECH NEWS
